What are the advantages of 904L stainless steel?

904L stainless steel is a low carbon, high nickel molybdenum austenitic stainless steel and acid-resistant steel. It has good activation-passivation conversion ability and excellent corrosion resistance. It has good corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing acids such as sulfuric acid, acetic acid, formic acid and phosphoric acid, and has good pitting corrosion resistance in neutral chlorine-containing media, as well as good crevice corrosion and stress corrosion resistance. 904L stainless steel is suitable for sulfuric acid with various concentrations below 70°C. It has good corrosion resistance in acetic acid at any concentration and temperature under normal pressure and in mixed acids of formic acid and acetic acid.

Stainless steel 904L has good corrosion resistance in dilute sulfuric acid and is specially designed for harsh corrosive conditions. It has high chromium content and sufficient nickel content. The addition of copper makes it have strong acid resistance, especially resistance to chloride crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It is not easy to produce corrosion points and cracks. Its pitting corrosion resistance is slightly better than other steel grades. It has good workability and weldability and can be used in pressure vessels.
