1. The SA737 grade B steel material is heated to an appropriate temperature for normalizing to form an austenitic structure, but the temperature should not exceed 1700F (925C). It should be held at this temperature for a sufficient time to allow the entire material to be heated evenly, and then allowed to cool in air.
2. If the purchaser agrees, in order to improve the SA737 grade B steel plate strength or toughness, the cooling rate is allowed to be faster than air cooling, but then the SA737 GrB steel plate must be tempered in the range of 1100-1300°F (595-705℃).
3. Unless otherwise negotiated and agreed upon, if the processing plant chooses to perform the heat treatment required by Articles 5.1 and 5.2, the SA737 steel plate manufacturer shall make C-grade steel plates with a thickness greater than 2in. (50mm) at 1650~1850F before delivery. (900 ~ 1010) for normalizing treatment.
