Chinese factory price S235JR S275JR carbon steel plate/ sheet

In May 2025, the ex factory price of S235JR carbon steel plate in China was about 3800-4100 yuan/ton, while S275JR quoted 4200-4500 yuan/ton due to higher strength. Thin plates (≤ 2mm) generally incur 8-12% processing fees.

Recently, steel mills in North China have reduced production for maintenance, resulting in tight supply for S275JR carbon steel plate/ sheet. The price difference between S275JR and S235JR has widened to 400 yuan/ton, and the arrival volume in the South China market has decreased by 15% compared to last month.

Terminal procurement is still mainly focused on infrastructure projects, and it is expected that there will be a wave of replenishment demand before the rainy season in June. Thin carbon steel plate/ sheet prices may rise slightly by about 5%.
