Both steelmaking and ironmaking are carried out by oxidation-reduction reaction, but there are great differences between them in reaction objects: ironmaking is to reduce iron, while A588 grade A weathering steel plate steelmaking is to remove excessive carbon and other impurities in pig iron, so there are relations and differences between them in actual operation. There are three main methods of A588 grade A weathering steel plate steelmaking: converter, electric furnace and flat furnace. The converter steelmaking process is most widely used.

In 2013, one of our clients in Korea purchased 890 tons Q345B square tube from us for one building construction project. Our clients required no burr in the side of the tube, we finally produce the goods with great condition and +/-0.25mm tolerance for wall thickness, which is a very great tolerance with customers’ required size. Our square tube full available range is 2-16mm for wall thickness, and 40-500mm for width. In addition, our Q/C department will seriously control all of the process of every order.

As to the Chemical composition, the different content is a main on carbon content, while the carbon content of A588 grade A weathering steel plate, A283Gr. D is no more than 0.27% and it is higher than Grade C (≤0.24%) ; as to the mechanical property, the differences are tensile strength and yield strength, while the tensile strength of ASTM A283 Gr.D is 415-550MPa (60-80 ksi) and yield strength of ASTM A283 Grade D is 230MPa (33 ksi).
