Heat treatment of SA302 GrB steel plate:
SA302 GrB steel sheets with thickness ≤2in (50mm) are usually heat treated in the as-rolled condition. SA302 GrB plates can also be ordered normalized or stress relieved, or normalized and stress relieved. Thickness > 2in (50mm) steel plate should be normalized. When normalizing steel plates with a thickness of ≥ 4 in (100 mm), the cooling method can be accelerated by blasting or liquid quenching to achieve mechanical properties similar to those produced by normalizing steel plates with smaller thicknesses.
