In October 23th, 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) in Zhuhai, South China’s Guangdong Province. 45Mn2 steel is added with manganese on the basis of No. 45 steel. After quenching and high temperature tempering, 45Mn2 steel can obtain high strength and good toughness, that is, it has good comprehensive mechanical properties, and is often used in manufacturing larger load shafts, connecting rods, fasteners, etc. The price of 45Mn2 steel is higher than that of No. 45 steel, API 5L X60 (L415) PSL1 grade steel. And the performance of 45Mn2 steel after heat treatment is better. 45Mn2 steel can be used as parts under higher stress and wear conditions, such as universal joint shaft, axle, connecting rod cover, friction plate, etc. The performance of 45Mn2 steel after heat treatment is better than No. 45 steel and worse than 40Cr steel.

The mechanical properties of Q420D steel: yield strength ≥ 420 MPa, tensile strength 500-680 MPa. The mechanical properties of Q460D steel: yield strength ≥ 460 MPa, tensile strength 500-720 MPa.
