At present, China's wear-resistant steel plate grades are divided into six levels, namely NM300, NM360, NM400, NM450, NM500, NM550 and NM600. After tempering, it has good comprehensive mechanical properties, good low temperature impact toughness and low notch sensitivity. The hardenability of steel weather resistant SPA-C steel is good. It can be hardened to Ф28 ～ 60mm during water quenching and Ф15～40mm during oil quenching. When the hardness is HB174～229, the relative cutting workability is 60%. The steel is suitable for making medium-sized plastic molds.

The heat treatment process can significantly improve the physical properties of steel, improve the compressive strength, ductility and service life of parts, and improve the hardness and wear resistance. Therefore, critical equipment parts and special tools must be quenched and tempered. The quenching and tempering treatment can also improve the production and processing performance of the weather resistant SPA-C steel product workpiece, thereby improving the production efficiency and production processing quality.

As for the mechanical properties of weather resistant SPA-C steel, ASTM A572 Gr.50, 345 Mpa is the yield point levels most closely approximating a geometric progression pattern between 36 ksi min yield point steels covered by Specification A36/A36M and 100ksi min yield point steels covered by Specification A514/A514M.
