China's steel exports to the surrounding areas of the "Belt and Road" have increased

From January to April, with the exception of angle profiles, the export volume of other varieties of steel fell significantly year-on-year, and the export of rods and wires and railway materials fell the most year-on-year. Affected by the drop in export prices during the severe domestic epidemic, the average export price of all types of steel products declined to varying degrees. Among them, the average export prices of rods, wire rods, angles and pipes have dropped significantly year-on-year. With the gradual decline in the export of rods and wires, the proportion of steel plates in total exports further increased. From January to April, China's export of flat steel products accounted for 62.7%, an increase of 2.4 percentage points year-on-year.

ASEAN, the Middle East and South Korea are still our main export destinations. From January to April, China exported 12.286 million tons steel to the above three countries and regions, a year-on-year decrease of 9.1%, accounting for 59.6% of total steel exports. Although the export of steel products to most countries and regions dropped sharply year-on-year, exports to the surrounding areas of the "Belt and Road" such as the Middle East, Africa and South Asia increased year-on-year. From January to April, China exported 2.901 million tons of steel products to the Middle East, an increase of 12.1% year-on-year; exports to Africa of 2.141 million tons, an increase of 1.5% year-on-year; and exports of 505,000 tons to Pakistan, an increase of 15.6% year-on-year. The main types of export growth are hot rolled steel coils.
