ASTM A572 Gr.50 mild carbon angle steel adopts niobium-vanadium microalloying design, with carbon content ≤0.23%, yield strength ≥345MPa, elongation ≥18%, suitable for load-bearing structures such as bridge trusses and ship bulkheads. Its flange thickness difference optimizes stress distribution, reducing weight by more than 15% compared with equilateral angle steel, and hot-rolled grain size reaches ASTM 7-8 grade.
A572 Gr. 50 angle steel contains Nb (0.005-0.05%) and V (0.01-0.15%), carbon equivalent CEIIW ≤0.45%, and plate thickness >25mm needs to be preheated to 120-150℃ during welding. It is recommended to match E70 series welding rods to achieve equal strength connection. At -20℃ low temperature impact energy ≥27J, it meets the requirements of anti-brittle fracture of cold region engineering.
Typical specifications of A572 Gr. 50 angle steel include L150×100×10mm. The surface can be sandblasted or hot-dip galvanized (salt spray test ≥500h). The fatigue life in the bridge field is 30% higher than that of Q355B. When used in ships, its seawater corrosion resistance is better than that of A36 steel.
