4140 steel is alloy structural steel, and its technical standard is ASTM A29/A29M. It belongs to ultra-high strength steel. A572 Grade 60 high strength steel, 4140 steel has high strength and toughness, good hardenability, no obvious temper brittleness, high fatigue limit and multiple impact resistance after tempering treatment, and good low temperature impact toughness. 4140 steel is suitable for manufacturing large and medium plastic mould with certain strength and toughness.

Weathering steel generally adopts the process route of fine material into the furnace-smelting (converter, electric furnace-microalloying treatment-argon blowing-LF refining-low superheat continuous casting (feeding rare earth wire)-controlled rolling and cooling. The scrap steel is added into the furnace together with the charge, and smelted according to the conventional process. After the A572 Grade 60 high strength steel steel is tapped, deoxidizers and alloys are added. After the molten steel is treated with argon blowing, the molten steel is cast. By adding rare earth elements to the steel, the A572 Grade 60 high strength steel weathering steel is purified and the content of inclusions is greatly reduced.
